New Adventures and the Balance of Self Power and Other | Full Moon in Libra | Vedic Astrology Forecast for April 22nd, 2016

full moon, moon, night, Libra, full moon in libra

The recent New Moon in Pisces invited the falling away of old and outdated ways of using power, along with the letting go of anything else that doesn’t serve our growth and happiness. This energy allowed you to turn in and connect to your deeper dreams, intuition and vision for what is next to come.

As the Sun transitioned into Aries on the Evening of April 13th, 2016, the Power (Sun) began the next phase of rebirth. In Aries the Sun finds one of its highest functioning positions in the Zodiac. The Sun represents our Power, our confidence and our sense of individual Self. In Aries, we begin the Journey of individuation, and there is a fresh start of (re)birth into a new adventure and a new experience. Aries as a Fire sign provides the enthusiasm, courage and strength to step onto this new path with confidence and excitement. The ruler of Aries is Mars, which is our strength, courage and action and it adds to the fiery action oriented nature of Aries.

The Sun in Aries is like the enthusiastic, passionate youth who sees only possibilities and a path towards success. And here, our individual strength and capacity for action and being bold and stepping into the world to explore and create our vision is at its height. Here we learn the “magic” of embracing our own individual strengths and embracing the Empowered Self in a full way.

Clearly this position of the Sun is very supportive the initiating a new phase of life, new projects and a new level of confidence and self empowerment. And thus, is supportive of any new directions that have arisen in your own inner vision during the Pisces reflective stages. Hopefully, you have felt this strong passion to “move forward” into some new phase of doing or being based upon the recent shifts.

Early in the morning, around 1:30am EDT, the Moon will move into its Fullest position across from the Sun. The Full Moon in Libra connects our mind to experiences of other people, relationships, beauty, shared happiness and beauty. It is ruled by Venus, which teaches us about happiness, enjoyment, beauty and learning to compromise with others. It is an Air sign which deepens its social nature. It is the natural point of the Zodiac that brings the opposing experience of “Empowered Individual Self” that Aries represents. And the Full moon in Libra is the integration point where we are invited to explore that balance between living a life from Self Empowerment as an individual (Sun in Aries) with being emotionally aware of other people and the happiness that having shared, connected experiences in relationship to others can bring. (Moon in Libra)

The questions arise in finding this integrated balance: How do I remain true to my own Individual needs and remain confidence and passionate about my own actions in the world, while also enjoying the shared connections with other? How do I remain confident and true to my own needs and truth while being in relationship to others, so I don’t compromise my own happiness to please another? How does the lure of connecting to others and sharing pleasure and happiness potentially cause me to lose my own balance or my own sense of Self?

In the Journey of Sadhana, person transformation and Spiritual growth, we are always being invited to find the balance between these expressions. Sometimes that is finding “the middle way”. And sometimes it is learning to be flexible and fluid and move between different expressions without getting stuck in only one side of the puzzle. Can I “Be true to my individual self and truth” when it matters, while also “compromising and being flexible in relationships when it creates deeper, healthy mutually shared connection and happiness”?

This is the invitation that is in process right now. So, as this Full Moon window becomes active from April 20 – 24, you may find these themes arising in your life. You may find experiences and situations being created that are inviting these questions. Perhaps noticing places where you are having trouble speaking up and being clear about your own needs for fear of displeasing others. Or perhaps becoming so lured into the connections of pleasure and enjoyment with others, that you find yourself forgetting your own needs, and caving in to what feels good in the moment with another.

The remaining planets are still located in the same signs as 2 weeks ago. Mercury is with Sun in Aries, encouraging deeper connection to Speech/Communication (Mercury) to our individual Power (Sun).

Venus is still in a strong position in Pisces, encouraging us to find a deeper connection through relationship and happiness. It encourages us to seek those connections through a more spiritual model of deeper universal oneness and mystical wisdom. Jupiter is still retrograde in Leo with Rahu, inviting a deeper obsession and some confusion (Rahu) into inner reflection around our inspiration, hope and higher teachings (Jupiter)

And Saturn is still retrograde in Scorpio encouraging reflection on fears and insecurities and inviting a deeper opportunity for transformation. The only other major change that has occurred is that Mars, which has also been in Scorpio, also turned retrograde on the Morning of April 17th. This is inviting reflection around themes of strength and courage, and further amplifying the Cosmic Invitation to face fears and insecurities and use them to Transform and Evolve. With both Saturn and Mars retrograde in this sign of Scorpio, there is also a heightened feeling among the collective of the need for “safety, protection and defending” against anything that feels threatening. This will both be in our global communities, such as conversations around terrorism, border controls and the like. As well is bring up our own individual Primal “protective” mechanisms. The reptilian brain that lashes out when it feels pushed into a corner that can show up as irrational fear and violence in many cases, where the “threat” is really only imagined.

Be aware of your own inner and outer reactivity, as well as any heightened sense of “danger” or resistance to change. Transformation requires change. And of course, with the Sun in Aries and the Moon in Libra, a heightened sense of protecting our own Individual Values and Self identity may also be active right now.

Remain aware of all of these things around Self empowerment, compromise in relationship as well as the invitation for Higher vibrations of mystical connection. And keep in might the potential for those irrational parts of yourself to be defensive and fearful in connection to these energies and themes.

How are you experiencing this current cycle of energy? Observer yourself, those around you, as well as the global stage for how this may be manifesting. And take come time to notice ways that you may get thrown off center by the connections to other people, and how you can find balance in maintaining your own Self of Empowerment and Truth while still playing nicely with others. 🙂

The above is a general Vedic Astrology Forecast. It discusses the shifts that are happening at the level of the Collective experience, as well as how you can use that Collective energy for your own growth and evolution.

Full Moon in Aries | Vedic Astrology Forecast for October 27th

FullMoonOverWaterThe Full Moon occured in Sidereal Aries around 8am Eastern Time on October 27th, 2015. This is the midpoint of the Lunar cycle begun with the New Moon in Virgo about 2 weeks ago.

The Seed of the cycle in Virgo encouraged us to evaluate the choices we need to improve our lives and to pull together the details of our “master plan” and get ready to put it into action. And pretty quickly into the Lunar cycle the Power of Sun shifted into Libra, encouraging us to take our plans and carry it with us into our relationships with others as well.

The Sun is said to be at its weakest point here in Libra, because it represents the Power of our “Self” or individuality. And in Libra, it is thrust into the social realm of connecting and focusing on others. I have seen in chart readings that client’s with Sun in Libra, especially if other planets are with it, will frequently have “weak will” when it comes to dealing with others. They have trouble finding authentic compromise, and instead “cave” under the pressure of other people’s needs.

In Libra, we are learning about “other” and how to find compromise so that we can increase our happiness through connection to others and learn to “play well with others” for mutual benefit. Part of this energy is that we are learning to be less selfish and instead seek a more balanced and harmonious way of being in relationship to other people. This placement of the Sun is supportive of “doing things with others” such as business deals. It’s also supporting greater awareness of Social equality in the political arena.

But it does bring challenges for the individual, as it can lead to the Sun or Individual self becoming too invested in the happiness of others “at all costs”. In this case, the Soul’s power is muted and keeping others happy becomes the quickest way to “compromise”.

How have you been doing in this regard? Have you noticed a stronger desire to “keep the peace”? Obviously, there are more nuances to this for you as an individual based upon your own birth chart’s configuration, but the general theme for all of us collectively revolves around our Power coming into connection with others, and how we go about the experience. These are universal experiences of evolving our capacity to compromise and find shared happiness with other people. It’s just that some get the “lesson” faster than others, which can often be seen from your birth chart.

So, at some point, all of us will likely experience giving into the “needs” of others as a way of keeping the peace. It sounds good on paper to be so “selfless” and just make the other happy. And when it is truly selfless, it might work out. But, if that “compromise” happens from a place of weakened personal power, then over time there will be a build up of regret and perhaps even resentment. Over time, we start to feel the unfulfilled parts of us that have been ignored while attempting to please “the other”, and we long to find our own happiness again. If we don’t recognize what is actualy happening, that WE have allowed our personal power to get lost in the fog of “pleasing other”, then we might also make the mistake of resenting the other and feeling angry or frustrated because the “other” isn’t giving us what we want or need. But alas, in the grand scheme, what we all must learn is how to balance this dance.

This becomes the experience of Purifying our relationship to other and evolving our capacity to be strong as an individual, while also enjoying the wonderful benefits of sharing happiness with others. And it is the point of the Aries full Moon that we are brought the deepest integration of this lesson.

As our Personal Power (the Sun) sits in Libra trying to figure this whole “relationship” thing out, our Mind and Emotions (the Moon) has been making its way through a process of evolving to understand this unique form of Power. As the Moon enters Aries, we come face to face with the psychological feeling of True Individual Power. This is, afterall, what Aries represents.

Aries is a fire sign, showing its action oriented nature. It is rules by Mars showing its strength and courageous approach to “acting now and thinking later”. It is connected to Dharma, showing its motivation for purpose. And it is a Cardinal sign, showing its desire to start new things. THIS is the optimal psychological state of our Individual Power: stepping out to do, to accomplish, to live, to breath for the shear glory of being ME and doing it MY way. 🙂

And, as the wisdom of our evolution is revealed by the opposing signs of the Zodiac, we must eventually integrate the opposites of experience. Eventually “Self” meets “Other”. And when our Power becomes immersed in Other, as it is now with Sun in Libra, then we must allow our mind to return and remember the balance point of “Self”.

This Full Moon in Aries invites us to consider what its like to allow our power and Individuality to dance with others and learn the art of sharing, and compromise, while also remembering and honoring our Own Individual power and needs. This is the balance point we all need to integrate. “How can I compromise and share happiness with others?”, while also still honoring my self as Individual. How can I learn to say “no” when “saying yes” would cause a little part of me to be unfulfilled.

We all have certain “criteria” for our own individual happiness. If we forget that, or we choose to set that aside to please another, then we are not honoring the balance. I am not talking about occasionally going to a movie or restaurant you aren’t interested in because your friend or spouse wants to do it. (Unless perhaps you are ALWAYS doing things you don’t enjoy) I am talking about making choices that diminish or block you from living an enthusiastic, powerful joy filled life pursuing your hopes and dreams.

We ALL make choices and “sacrifices”. So, this isn’t about saying that you should always get your way either. But we must take responsibility for our choices. We must also have enough self awareness to know that “this is important to me and my happiness, and I cannot compromise on this.” As we learn to be more open, more free and more flexible, we may find that we don’t need to be “rigid” about many things in life. That we can “go with the flow” more, and remain joyful amidst the ever changing background of life, even celebrating and supporting the happiness of others.

But consider this: If “compromise” is about helping to find balance where both parties are happy, shouldn’t YOU be happy as well? And isn’t it reasonable to think that someone who is also seeking a balanced relationship of mutual happiness would want to SUPPORT your hopes and dreams?

We must learn to find the voice to assert, in a healthy and respectful way, that “This is what I need. These are the things that make me happy. These are the things I enjoy doing.”

Could you imagine a bird finding a best friend or a spouse, and agreeing to never chirp again as a “compromise” to being in that relationship? That the bird would actually deny or repress its own nature just to have a friend or a spouse? You would clearly find this absurd. “Birds chirp, Jeff! That’s what they do!”…. Yes. That IS what they do!

And like birds, we each have our own “song” to sing. Are you allowing yourself to live fully into your Nature? Into your individual Power? Or have you decided it’s easier not to “chirp” to “keep the peace”?

Is there something you have compromised on that maybe doesn’t feel so good anymore? These types of things may start to come into mind during this Full Moon window. You may also start to connect in various ways to “your individual sense of power and Self”. Perhaps, you just feel like “doing something alone”, or starting a new project.

I remind you that as part of our evolution, the pendulum often swings way to the other direction as we experience life and learn to balance it. In this case, the pendulum may swing between “all about me” and “all about other”. But, the evolution of finding balance is to learn to remain flexible at either end of the spectrum, while also staying centered at the midpoint of the pendulums swing mentally. So, if you DO recognize some area where you have compromised too much, reconnecting with the Individual Power of Aries through the Full Moon window doesn’t mean you need to come out guns blazing to “reclaim your land”. It is time, however, to find the courage to begin to share your needs and dreams where you haven’t before.

Luckily, Mercury, your capacity for Speech and communication, will be moving into Libra on October 29th to help you. Here, it helps you remember how to communicate in ways that are more diplomatic and find more balance perspectives on true compromise.

Venus (representing relationships) and Mars (courage and strength) have been very close to each other lately, potentially creating a little more friction, irritability and possible arguments in relationships. (Have you felt it?) In fiery Leo with Jupiter, this conflct may have been about principles or values.

On November 2nd, both Venus and Mars will enter Virgo within 30 minutes of each other. In Virgo, Venus is at its most challenged placement, because its natural desire to enjoy pleasure and happiness is hampered by the psychological feeling of needing order, structure and details to operate. So, here Venus can become too picky and unable to just “let go and enjoy”. With Mars nearby, this could still lead to arguments. As they will be joining Rahu here, there could be an amplification of confusion, irritability and nit-pickiness. Try to remain calm. 🙂

In the meantime, try to observe these themes within yourself, those around you, and within the news. If you need to “renegotiate” something you have compromised on, try to be diplomatic. If your biggest error has been simply “not speaking up”, then now is the time to align with your Individual Power and enthusiastically share your hopes, dreams and needs. Mercury in Libra will support this. But be mindful that you don’t get too hot headed about it, or argue about nit picky details.

Has some part of your “Nature” been ignored while attempting to compromise? Is it time to “chirp” again?

Let me know your experiences of this energy in the comments below. 🙂

Reflecting on Love, Relationships and Communicating from your Heart – Capricorn Full Moon July 31st, 2015

FullMoonOverWaterThere have been many shifts in the planetary positions since July 13th where the New Moon began in the last degrees of Sidereal Gemini.

As I shared in the New Moon Report, it began a new cycle of exploring Conscious Communication and evolving from being entertained towards finding peace and love. Coming at the tail end of Gemini serves to evolve our communication through the natural path of the Zodiac. The seeds of communication were planted in Gemini and then the Sun and Moon both moved into Sidereal Cancer. So the prior explorations and curiosities from the time of the Sun and Moon in Gemini shift into Cancer where more emotion and feeling are connected to those experiences.

Cancer is where we feel our vulnerability and explore our relationship to nurturing others. It can also invite an opening to intuition. And it is where we learn the lessons of connecting to others through the Heart. And through this exploration, we come to find peace within out own emotional nature.

All of this energy is also being played out in our cycles of communication, begun by the New Moon. And so for the past almost 2 weeks, the Sun and Mercury, which were together for the start of the cycle in Gemini, have transitioned into Cancer. Here our the Sun as Power, confidence and sense of individuality has been placed into the open emotional space of Cancer. Along with Mercury, as our capacity for speech and communication.

While the invitation here is to learn to express our Soul’s Power and communicate from a place of emotional openness and authentic vulnerability, that doesn’t always feel so easy or safe for most of us. The results of the past 2 weeks may be that some may have instead felt emotionally vulnerable and protective. If we haven’t been able to stay firmly planted in the Soul’s power, then instead of communicating from the Heart, we may have been more inclined to be emotionally reactive or emotionally clingy. No matter how you have handled it, you may have been aware of feeling a little more sensitive or emotionally aware these past couple of weeks.

The question, of course, is how did you handle this vibrational environment? Have you kicked and cried and thrown tantrums? Have you felt a strong need to connect to others to feel more safe and secure? Have you mustered up the confidence to speak honestly about how you are feeling and what your needs are?

During these last couple of weeks, Mercury also moved past Mars. Mars was in Gemini at the start of the New Moon, bringing some potential conflicts and arguments. But the movement past Mars shows that many conflicts are now given the opportunity to be let go. Have some communication challenges, or conflicts of power begun to soften for you? Perhaps getting to a softer, more compassionate perspective on the situation.

And on July 25th, Venus went retrograde. This retrograde motion shows that the collective Karmic energy is being given a chance to reflect over the nature of our relationships and our happiness. Venus is the natural indicator for relationships. It is where we find pleasure and happiness through our outer experiences of life. A major Venus lesson is learning how to compromise with others in relationship. It evolves from seeking selfish pleasure at the expense of others towards an understanding that compromise brings a greater sense of satisfaction and happiness. After all, if both people are happy with their shared situation, then more happiness can come from it for both people. Out of this lesson around compromise, Venus ultimately evolves into a more selfless expression of Devotion towards the Sacred in life and in those we are in relationship with.

This retrograde Venus period gives you the opportunity to reflect and introspect on your own relationships, your happiness and the degree to which you are able to compromise and share happiness with another instead of demanding that your own happiness be fulfilled without considering how that will affect others. Because Venus is sharing the sign of Leo with Jupiter, we have the opportunity to link our higher principles, wisdoms and teachings to this inner reflection and truly come out the other side as a better partner and friend. But. the inspired and regal energy of Leo can also cause Venus to be a “little Queen” or “little King” around pleasure, and be inclined to “issue royal orders” for how her “subjects should please her”.

As Venus is retrograde, we are given the opportunity to reflect on how this demanding “serve my pleasure” energy may be showing up in your life and in your relationships, and to evolve towards greater compromise and to more balanced relationships which are based upon mutual respect and a shared higher vision of Principles and even Spiritual Values.

And through all of these changes, the Moon has continued her movement through the Zodiac, and will move into Capricorn on July 30th and reach the height of Full Moon on July 31st.

The Full Moon is an integration and balance point for the New Moon Cycles. With all of the above energies still at play, the Moon moving into Capricorn is an opportunity for us to strengthen our own sense of emotional boundaries in communication and in relationship to others.

In Cancer we learn to feel our Inner Heart and open to emotions and Love, but that fullness and openness can create vulnerability all by itself. While Tantra encourages us all to develop an open heart that is capable of accepting self and others, the reality is that everything in the Universal experience must find balance. Being that open doesn’t always feel safe. And for some, that feeling of vulnerability is likely to cause them to simply shut down and not want to feel deeply at all.

What the Cosmic wisdom of the Zodiac reveals is how to balance through opposite signs. The reality is that it is NOT always appropriate to be vulnerable and open. The old saying of “wearing your heart on your sleeve” can certainly lead to being taken advantage of and being hurt. At the same time, there ARE times when it IS appropriate and rewarding to have our hearts more open. And Cancer’s lesson of finding safety in opening the heart comes through the lesson of Capricorn.

In Capricorn, we learn how to set boundaries and to create a more practical structure to our emotions and interactions. Of course, if we only used the Capricorn energy, then we would simply build a wall around the Heart and never feel again. But this Full Moon invites is to learn to balance.

As the Sun and Mercury sit in Cancer, inviting more vulnerability and feeling to our Soul and Communication, the Moon is taken into Capricorn at the height of its Fullness. Here the feeling sense is stabilized and the lesson of creating emotional boundaries is experienced. In the proper balance, we can learn to easily and safely flow between healthy levels of feeling and emotional vulnerability and also being able to set boundaries to keep the heart appropriately protected when needed.

The Moon here also invites us to make peace with a greater level of solitude, where we can still experience peace in isolation rather than feeling the clingy need to always be connected to someone else. It also supports stabilizing our emotions and learning how to create a practical path through life. You should also be aware that the influence of Saturn as both Capricorn’s Ruler and its aspect on the Moon from Scorpio may also bring some nervousness or fears to the surface. So do be mindful that the boundaries you are creating are not from some fearful place, but instead seek to use your deeper wisdom and intuition to set boundaries as a way of evolving the Moon’s capacity to connect to others and strengthen your connection to deeper Peace and Love.

As the integration point for the New Moon which started in Gemini, you are given the chance to explore communicating healthy boundaries and needs while also exploring how you can be appropriately vulnerable and emotionally connected to others. All of this happening, while Retrograde Venus is creating introspection on your experience of relationships, compromise and the pursuit of pleasure and happiness.

I encourage you to use this time to pay attention to your need for self reflection, as well as finding that balance of seeking solitude when needed. As you strengthen your own self awareness, you can develop the capacity to remain peaceful, loving and balanced in your relationships and interactions with others. You can learn to feel more fully the love and emotional connections with those around you, while also setting healthy boundaries to ensure that only those that share the same vision of mutual respect are allowed into your inner heart. And from that place, evolve your capacity to communicate your needs, hopes and desires.

Be sure to notice these themes in yourself, as well as how those around you are reacting to these Collective Karmic trends.

What have your experiences been during this time?
