Putting Your Inspiration to the Test | Full Moon in Gemini | Vedic Astrology Forecast for December 25th, 2015

FullMoonOverWaterThe peak of the Full Moon in Sidereal Gemini will occur around 6:12am on December 25th, 2015. This puts the full moon window from December 23rd through 27th.

The recent New Moon began the lunar cycle in Scorpio, reconnecting us to our fears and insecurities again as a means to evolve and transform them. And one of the effects of facing our insecurities and fears is realizing that permanent happiness cannot be found in the experiences of the outer world. There will always be ebbs and flows of our emotional waters from happy to fearful to joyful to sad, and the movement of life goes on. We can’t anchor our happiness to any particular person or object, because eventually it will be lost. We can and should enjoy the world, enjoy meaningful relationships, enjoy pleasure and seek to create the greatest happiness we can in the world, but we must also recognize the deeper nature of life as well. For as long as we have illusions about what life is, we will continue to ride the emotional roller coaster of joys and sorrows AS the mistaken truth or reality.

That Scorpio energy is a jumping off point to re-examine our relationship to the ups and downs of life where we learn to stabilize our emotional state through a steady, calm and grounded mind. We learn to reach deep into our nature beyond this world to find our anchor of peace. And as we recognize “where we are” and the “nature of life as it is”, we are often motivated to seek a deeper meaning and purpose for our existence beyond just the pursuit of worldly happiness.

That search for deeper meaning and purpose is what steps us psychologically into the realm of Sagittarius. On December 16th, just 5 days after the New Moon in Scorpio, the Sun stepped our collective sense of Power and Soul connection into Sagittarius. Perhaps you have notice that the last 10 days or so has felt a little more hopeful and optimistic despite the recent global fears and challenges. It doesn’t “wash away” what has happened, but it connected us to deeper possibilities, deeper meaning, and hope and optimism to find the path out of darkness.

With the Sun here, we have all been invited to reflect on our own relationship to higher truth, higher purpose and the meaning of existence that has been the studies of spirituality and religion for thousands of year and longer. Do understand this is a universal quest and questioning. It isn’t about a specific religion or spiritual belief system, although you may feel connected to and guided by one. But even for those who aren’t drawn to organized religious or eastern philosophy, their “religion” is formed by their own sense of purpose and truth. From a technical sense, even being an Atheist and believing “God doesn’t exist. We should just be nice to people” is a “religion” in the sense that it is a guiding set of beliefs for the meaning of life.

However you are inspired, however you find meaning and purpose, however you connect to a deeper hope, these are the things that we are invited to connect to here. For many reading this, you likely are in some ways connected to a spiritual path, and that may be the source of renewal and deepening. It is common in some way that our inspirations initially come from others as spiritual teachings, teachers and practitioners. (Sagittarius is also associated with Teachers and higher teachings.)

And for some, especially when first learning something new, when something “sounds good”, we might just cling to it as Truth. Hopefully it is. But sometimes that “clinging to” become Dogma. Even if the principle is sound and helpful, perhaps we become too rigid about it. Or perhaps we embrace a philosophy that isn’t really helpful but can’t see that yet. Or, perhaps we embrace a beautiful philosophy that is filled with the deepest Spiritual truths, but it only stays at the level of “ideas” and never sinks into direct experience through practicing it.

As the Full Moon begins to form in Gemini, it offers the counterbalance position to these potential challenges in forming our deeper belief systems and awakening deeper Truth from teachings and philosophies. Gemini is ruled by Mercury which rules our capacity for speech and communication. Mercury is fast and quick and curious about seeing many perspectives and having many experiences. As an air Sign, Gemini deepens Mercury’s curious, playful and creative nature. This quickness also reveals that Gemini energy is often not very attached to things. It can hop from one idea or experience to another and just explored and experiences the perspectives.

This Gemini energy reminds us that we must Test our principles and teachings. We must be willing to take the principle, the idea, the teaching, the philosophy and be unattached to it and put it into practice. And through the experiences of the practice, we will discover for our self if the teaching really is worth anything. Does “treating others with kindness” really benefit our self and others? We will only know if we become curious enough to “do an experiment” and see the outcome.

Through this willingness to test the beliefs and teachings we encounter without attachment or expectation, we are able to throw away what doesn’t work or what seems to have less positive impact, and keep the true Gold. As we learn to evolve Mercury through Gemini’s curious energy, Mercury becomes a deeper tool of mental discrimination. We learn, through our own experience, what is valuable and what is not. And we become centered in an embodied experience of our philosophies and spiritual practices, rather than just having “ideas about how things are”.

And as we explore through curiosity, and embody that experience, we become more calm, more centered and more genuinely sure that our teachings are working to improve our lives and the lives of those around us. And then Mercury’s capacity to communicate and speak arises to be able to clearly articulate these Truth from a place of wisdom and experience.

This is the balance point. So, are you putting your own ideals, principles and cherished beliefs into practice? Are you being the type of person that you hope others would aspire to become as well? Are you holding others to a higher standard that you allow yourself to slide on?  And if so, what is the result of living and action from these principles?  What can you observe in your own life or the lives of others that shows “it is valuable”?

We impact our own life and others by testing our beliefs to see if they really provide the benefits, the growth and the outcomes we expect. And if they do not, then we should also be willing to let them go and refine our understanding of life, others and the deeper meaning of existence.

I know for myself on the Spiritual Path, my understanding of various teachings has evolved and refined itself through practice and experience.  There are popular teachings that I assumed were true, and later discovered they didn’t seem to benefit me, or discovered they were helpful at a certain stage of development, but ceased to benefit me once I stepped into a deeper understanding.  So they changed.  Or I threw them out.

This is what most any major “Wisdom Tradition” would teach. I know it is True of Tantra Yoga. The higher teachings are offered as the deepest Truths as discovered by those who have evolved to their fullest Spiritual Potential. We are invited to assume they are worth pursuing, but we are not required to believe it is True until we have a direct experience of that Truth. This is the difference between a “scholar” and a “practitioner”. The Scholar understands and can explain the philosophy, but an experienced practitioner knows by direct experience that it is True. It is of course possible to be both Scholar and Practitioner, but the layer of experience is what really deepens faith and clarity of the teachings.

In other transits, we see that Mars moved into Libra on December 23rd. This will help to connect our actions and strength with greater awareness of others. Mars always has the potential to create some agitation, anger or violence, but it is considered a “friendly” placement, so it’s general expression here should be one of calming some of the agitation we have seen recently.

Venus will also move into Scorpio just a couple of hours before the peak of the Gemini Full Moon. Here, our experience of happiness is moved into a more emotionally fluctuating space. It is also a fairly friendly position for Venus. It may bring some ups and downs with regard to emotional realms, but it will also connect us to our deeper desires. Look for opportunities to better connect to previously hidden desires and see if perhaps some greater happiness and fulfillment might be found in exploring them. This may be your hopes and dreams in any area of life. And Scorpio is also often associated with our sexuality (as an often hidden force), so you may find yourself feeling a little more connected to that level of desire as well.

This will also create an exchange of energy between Mars and Venus, which can lead to increased passion related to the pursuit of pleasure and happiness.

On December 26th, Mercury as Speech and communication is leaving Sagittarius, carrying with in a renewed sense of hope and optimism, and entering Capricorn. Capricorn brings the experience of Inner Structure where we learn to establish emotional boundaries and develop responsibility and ambition to embrace commitment in the world. It is oriented towards protection of self and others from perceived challenges and problems, and finding practical solutions to resolve them. This energy should be supportive of continuing the conversation about how best to protect our country from terrorism.

Mercury feels friendly in this environment, and hopefully this will support creating new understanding, open dialog and new policy around the fears and insecurities which have recently been brought into the collective experience. But I do see that Mars and Saturn are both aspecting Mercury in this position, which shows the communication in general is likely to be motivated by fear and anxiety (from Saturn) along with agitation and argument (from Mars). Be mindful around your own communications during this time as well.

How will you engage this Full Moon energy? What beliefs, teachings and inspired philosophies have been awakening for you? How has your understanding of life and the meaning of your own existence been shifted or challenged during these recent events? And what beliefs might you be blindly following that you would benefit by testing or just putting into action?

The above is a general Vedic Astrology Forecast. It discusses the shifts that are happening at the level of the Collective experience, as well as how you can use that Collective energy for your own growth and evolution.

Creative Power, Serving Others, and the Stock Market Drop | Full Moon in Aquarius | August 29th, 2015 Vedic Astrology Report

FullMoonOverWaterOn August 14th, the New Moon cycle began in Sidereal Cancer, ushering in a collective cycle of exploring our relationship to love and emotional vulnerability in conjunction with Relationship (Venus retrograde) and how we find happiness.

On August 17th, only days after the New Moon Cycle began, the Sun moved into Leo. This invites the natural evolution of the heart into the Cycle. In Cancer, we (hopefully) learn to discover peace in our Heart, by evolving our emotional connections towards higher states of Unconditional love.

As we move into Leo, we are inspired to share the things we love most with the world. Leo inspires creative energy to flow and the desire to expand the connection gained in Cancer into the world through acting on our inspirations. Creativity, romance, inspired leadership and discovery of the Soul’s Power to radiate into the world all happen through Leo’s influence.

As part of this cycle, a couple of days before the new Moon, the Sun began to close in on Jupiter, creating Combustion. When Combustion occurs, the power of the Sun overpowers the natural energy of the combust Planet. Like a sunburn, the Planet begins to feel irritated. When Jupiter goes combust, it can bring the feeling of frustration around our sense of hope and purpose. It can cause us to feel unworthy of God’s grace. And even make us more sensitive around our personal philosophies and religious inclinations. You may be more susceptible to feeling judged by others or be feeling like your values are inferior to others.

With this sensitivity around your values and beliefs, you may actually be drawn to cling more closely to your values, or to try to put on an optimistic face. Or, you may just find a different philosophy to explain away your sensitivity.

Jupiter’s combustion is a time when our relationship to teachings, philosophy, hope, optimism and our spiritual connection is purified by the deeper light of the Soul (Sun). Much of our sensitives reveals the places where we judge ourself. Where we feel unworthy of God’s love. Or where we have been too rigid or too dogmatic in our philosophies. By being mindful of the sensitivities and the frustration that arises, we are able to bring some unconscious karmic material to the surface to be processed, purified and integrated. The result of this process over time leads us to a more anchored, flexible embodied experience of deeper teachings and spiritual connection.

It is also interesting that the Stock Market has been so prominent in the news as Jupiter is also a main indicator of wealth. Rapid drops have been explained as a “correction” in which the market determines that the stock prices have risen higher than their true value due to enthusiasm of the market. The market “corrects” with a downward trend to bring stock prices back in line with the true value of the stocks. Multiple days of rapid drops with discussions around the stability of the economy, showing lots of fluctuation, insecurity and sensitivity around investments and finances. The combustion of Jupiter here is shown to create sensitivity and instability in the optimism of the long trending Bull market.

The most intense Combustion point will occur the evening of August 26th, and then the effects will slowly decrease until the combustion window ends on September 10th.

In the mean time, this combust Jupiter might be affecting the level of inspiration we have around our creative pursuits of sharing what we love most in the world. You may have more difficulty remaining inspired. Or you may have more difficultly feeling genuinely empowered by the deeper teachings and philosophies you hold dear. You may either hold to them too rigidly or perhaps feel less hopeful about them and less connected to your spiritual center.

It whatever ways they are showing up in your life, in some way this area of your life is being purified and transformed.

This brings a challenge to the New Moon cycle as well because we enter it with the invitation of allowing ourselves to open our hearts and be emotionally vulnerable and explore love, and then share that with the world. But during this time, we may feel less purpose or optimism about our heart’s desires.

As the Moon makes its way into Sidereal Aquarius, we will experience the height of the Full Moon on August 29th. The energy starts to build for about 2 days before, and then soften for the 2 days after.

The Full Moon is the integration point of the cycle. As it enters Aquarius, it will be inviting us to use our Soul’s radiance and Creative energy in ways that serve the larger collective. Aquarius is where we connect to the larger society and are inspired to share our highest ambitions in service of others. The Moon here connects the mind with the these principles, while our Soul’s Power (Sun) stays anchored in its own Sign in Leo. We are invited to connect to the Power of our Soul and True Self, while being mindful of using that power for the benefit of others. Through this balance, we begin to negate the selfishness of the ego and expand towards a more universal awareness of our connection to others.

The caution for this position is to ensure that while we service others, we also stay connected to our Authentic power and Creativity as a way of honoring our own Self. The integration is about honoring and serving others and seeing their value as individuals and their connection through the Collective web of Consciousness. But, as we serve and lift others up, you must not forget that you are also worthy of being loved and served. While moving towards authentic selflessness may allow us to easily focus on the needs of others above our own, it cannot work if we actually don’t see our own reflected power within them. Otherwise, we fall into the trap of diminishing our own worth and becoming “subservient” to others, rather than following a genuine path of selfless service.

Especially with the Combustion of Jupiter, that reduced optimism and connection to purpose could potentially cause us to devalue ourselves and mistakenly see others as more worthy of love and service than our own selves. And at the other end, we may also feel so disconnected that we respond to the idea of serving others with “what’s the point?”…

Mars is still in a challenged position in Cancer, causing frustration around taking action and feeling our true strength. And Venus is still retrograde until Sept 6th, deepening this cycle of reflecting over Relationship and the qualities of True Happiness.

During this time, I encourage you to make a conscious effort to connect with your Soul’s Power and to nurture your own creative power. This may be as simple as visualizing the Inner light flowing from within and radiating into the world for a few minutes each day.

I also encourage you to infuse that radiance with an inner connection to hope, love and wisdom. Even while your relationship to purpose, teachings and connection to God’s grace is being purified through this combustion, you can intentionally continue to invite the higher experience of that energy to flow into your body and your life. In this way, you focus on the Higher Potential and Truth as a way of balancing any sensitivities that the Combust Jupiter may be creating for you.

This is also a wonderful time to explore your relationship to serving others and to your higher ambitions and goals in life. Notice especially if you may be diminishing your own Self worth (Sun) and focusing on only lifting others up instead. We must find balance in all things.

How ever these energies are playing out in your life and in your psyche, try to stay connected and anchored into deeper Truths that you know from your own experience. And be gentle, nurturing, patient and kind to your Self.

As always, listen to your Inner Guidance, follow your heart, and observe how these energies are affecting the world around you.

The above is a general Vedic Astrology Forecast. It discusses the shifts that are happening at the level of the Collective experience, as well as how you can use that Collective energy for your own growth and evolution.

Jupiter Enters Leo – Acting Upon Inspired Principles

JupiterFor the past 13 months (since June 19th, 2014), we have been experiencing Jupiter in the Sign of Sidereal Cancer. Here, Jupiter is said to be exalted or operating in it’s highest placement because it connects our highest principles and purpose (Jupiter) through our emotional heart (Cancer). In its highest expression we find that love, compassion, sensitivity and intuition become the guiding principles, which then operate through our experience and expression of the higher teachings, principles, legal justice, spirituality and religious impulses that Jupiter represents.

As the planets move through the Zodiac, there is an intelligence operating within the process. Each sign placement is an evolutionary experience of that Planet’s energy. It evolves through the sign, which also prepares it for the experience of the next sign.

The hope is that over the past 13 months, our principles have become more connected to our inner heart. We have seen “seeking justice” and connection to principles filled with emotion in such national events as the very emotional reactions to the treatment of African Americans by the Police. We have seen “seeking justice” in connection to religious beliefs around Love and marriage through the legal shifts around Gay Marriage. And the coverage of Bruce Jenner’s public acknowledgment of transitioning from male to female as a transgendered woman now known as Caitlin Jenner shows an example of joining heart with principles and values. It arose within the collective as a lesson for our culture of how “I must live by my own Truth and Values” where the inner heart of compassion and self acceptance cries out for peace and freedom to live by one’s own truth.

And with that opportunity for growth in place from Cancer, on July 14th, 2015, Jupiter will steps into Sidereal Leo – the sign of Power, inspiration and uplifting energy. In Leo, we learn how to activate our deeper spiritual power and use it for leadership both internally and externally.

Leo is like a king. In its highest expression, it seeks to serve those who he leads. As a Sattvic sign, Leo is oriented towards doing what is right and good. As a fixed sign, it is more focused on inspiring and building upon what is present. So, it is more interested in expanding and improving the kingdom, rather than knocking down old structures and starting over. It is large, influential and has strength to persevere and move forward. As a Fire sign, it is motivated towards action and uses inspiration and intuition as fuel for what it shares with the world.

The sign of Leo is ruled by the Sun, which is the planet of Power. The process of evolving the Sun within our lives and our spiritual practices is one of purifying the ego and discovering that our True Power comes not from our small individual sense of self in the world, but instead the deeper spark of Spirit which dwells within our spiritual Self.

As Jupiter enters Leo, it brings inspiration and motivation to our deeper principles, our spiritual path and our own sense of Truth and Purpose. It will inspire action based upon these things, and through those actions we will be invited on a journey of purifying our ego attachments and limited notions of Truth, and instead connect with our deeper Power as Radiant Consciousness.

But we must also remember, that within our Collective experience, there are various degrees of wisdom and understanding. Some are more attached to a sense of ego power. And some also have “higher principles and spiritual teachings” that are still based upon judgment and dogma.

From July 14th, 2015 through mid August 2016, Jupiter will make it’s way through the sign of Leo, activating the above energies within the Collective experience. There will be higher levels of motivation to take actions towards creating your higher ideals and to be inspired by the teachings and principles that are closest to your own heart. Passion and courage arise here.

For your personal life, you may feel more inspired to “go for it” with what you most love based upon your deeper principles and the knowledge of what brings you peace and harmony. Try to connect to the “wave” of this inspiration and use it to propel you forward towards your soul’s passions.  The Truth and Principles that dwell in your inner heart now long to radiate into the world, to be seen by others in all their glory.

But let us also remember, that not everyone holds our values. Leo energy, when not evolved, pushes the individual through an experience of greater Ego and deeper attachment to the sense of individual power. At this stage of evolution, the “kings” can become tyrants and seek to dominate and control others by forcing their own principles and dogma onto others.

I expect the next 13 months to be a very interesting journey. Inspired Jupiter will continue to expand and solidify many of the recent changes in law around gay marriage equality. It will also continue to expand our awareness of the dynamics of power in leadership, such as the use of power by police and government. But, it has the potential to move us away from the more emotional reactivity and attachment that Cancer could potentially bring, and instead create an infectious sense of enthusiasm towards finding a more balanced relationship to power and principles.

Jupiter also represent Teachers, Spiritual Teachers, trusted advisors and things connected to the legal system such as courts and lawyers. So a time to connect to inspiration about Higher quality spiritual teachings, or to gain deeper education around things that are connected to your deeper purpose and principles. It also acts as a support for the legal system to be more inspired and motivated to do good things.

But also be aware that it will give rise to religious zealots and fundamentalist who will also be inspired to act upon their own principles in their role as leaders. We must remember that everyone has their own unique karmic journey. As the Sun purifies our principles, spiritual teachings and legal systems, there will be resistance and even stronger insistence on “what is right” from those who are not yet willing to let go of their ego’s investment in dogma. In the end, this placement supports a higher evolution towards more Universal laws of Truth, but there may be some “fallout” as the process unfolds.

Those who are still attached to dogma with be purified by experiencing their resistance and forced to eventually realize that their approach is not working. And those that are more connected to the inner light of the Spiritual Self can use the reflection of resistance, judgment and dogma as a mirror to remind ourselves that we are seeking the higher promise of Jupiter – expansive consciousness guided by wisdom, compassion and Universal Truth.

For you, use this time to bring out and discover the highest, most compassionate teachings and put them into action. “Lead” by example. Allow your own creative inspirations to rise to the top so that you can enthusiastically pursue your soul’s deepest passions and longings. And keep these principles in mind as you observe your friends, families, coworkers and the actions of our spiritual leaders and the courts over the next 13 months.

The above is a general Vedic Astrology Forecast. It discusses the shifts that are happening at the level of the Collective experience, as well as how you can use that Collective energy for your own growth and evolution.
