Time for Action, Need For Change and Trump | New Moon in Aries | Vedic Astrology Forecast for May 6th, 2016

aires new moon, moon, sky

Since the recent Full Moon in Libra, Venus transited into Aries on April 25th and Mercury went Retrograde on April 28th. This sets up 2 interesting things as we approach the New Moon.

First, since the Moon entered Aries early on May 5th, during the New Moon window there will be FOUR planets in Aries. Second, with Mercury retrograde now, there are a total of FOUR of the major planets in Retrograde motion at this time.

“There’s a whole lot going on”, as some might say in the South. 🙂

The Full Moon in Libra invited us to find a balance between our Individual self and our relationships with other. This New Moon (May 6th at 3:30pm EST) however, is inviting us to to really step strongly into our individual power and take empowered steps towards a new vision of life.  With the influence of the Full Moon, we should now be more aware of the impact of our individual power on other people.

Aries is the first sign of the Zodiac and represents the beginnings of new Adventures or a rebirth of sorts. It’s ruled by Mars which brings Strength and courage, and it is a fire sign which amplifies inspired action. Right now, we have the Sun in its strongest position connecting our own inner Power and Confidence of Self into this courage and inspired action. The Moon in Aries connects our Mind and emotions to this inspired, optimistic and action oriented energy. Venus here links our sense of happiness and pleasure to the strength and courageous actions that arise from our deeper Self. And Mercury in Aries connects our Speech, Communication and intellectual curiosity into starting new projects and taking courageous action.

We could say here that our Heart and Soul is being inspired to forge ahead and start some new projects and become more active in the world. And that our Sense of Joy and Happiness and desire to discover the best course of action and communicate it is linked right into that. Especially with Mercury in retrograde, there is a curious inner reflection being invited to explore the best course of action for the next steps, while also being inspired into action and starting new projects.

The energy of Aries is similar to the Sprouting of a new Seed. And we can see whatever new project or course of action we may be desiring to step into as an inner Seed of Creation. The “seed” is the desire, inspiration and impulse to grow and move into a new direction or to start a new project, or just to re-inspire a more active role towards a goal. And like a seed, there is a large amount of energy needed to “just get sprouted”. It take much more energy to get the seed to germinate and sprout than it does to continue growing once sprouted. And this is also similar to our own “new Projects”. We must overcome the inertia of habits and resistance, and invest a large amount of energy quickly just to get the momentum built into the new direction. And Aries offers us that through inspiration, enthusiasm, courage and strength.

Mercury joined Saturn, Mars and Jupiter as retrograde. This is bring a lot of energy that is inwardly reflecting. Retrograde often invites us to reflect on the theme of the energy the planets carries, as well as can literally invite connections to the past to arise in experience or in awareness. Mercury retrograde invites the reflections on our inner details, perspectives and curiosities. Saturn retrograde invites inner reflection on our experience of time, aging and our ability to commit to what best serves us including how much fear and anxiety we have around those themes. Mars retrograde invites inner reflection on our strength, courage and action and how disciplined we are in channeling it rather than growing frustrated and angry. And Jupiter retrograde invites inner refection on our principles, higher teachings and our relationship to hope, purpose and meaning.

Can you feel that the world is “backing up”? Can you feel the world asking serious questions about where we have been and where we are going as a Nation and as a global community?

Retrograde planets often reflect the inner workings of unresolved Karma being cycled through. Awareness of the “Mistakes of the past” with the invitation to not have history repeat itself.

My observation and also inner feeling is that there is growing global unrest and increasing awareness that “something needs to change”. This energy has been building for a while of course, and Donald Trump’s rise has been fueled by one pocket of that unrest. But there is also a counter movement against him rising with a different perspective on what needs to change. He is both “the poster child” of leader for the original disenfranchised group, and also the motivation for another group to sit up and pay more attention.

Our Entire political system is being questioned. Our medical system is again being requestioned. Our values, our purpose, our fears, our angers, our safety, and our future are all being reflected on in increasingly “urgent” ways.

Within the past 48 hours, Donald Trump has stepped forward as the Republican Nominee. Cruz and Kasich both have dropped out of the race. Interestingly, this final step of securing the nomination has occurred while Venus, Mercury and the Sun are in Aries. Because Donald Trump’s rising sign in Leo, ruled by the Sun, the SUN represents his own self. And it is, by transit, in its strongest position for Individual Power and Self-Will. It is also in his 9th house of grace, purpose and principle in a fiery and inspiring sign. Venus rules his 10th house, and so his Career is also connected to the strength of his Individual Power.

Mercury is there in retrograde. And as he has secured his nomination, he is now reflecting on the way he uses speech in connection to his Power and Career, and has stated that moving forward he wants to shift the campaign to being more “above board”. Meaning that he wants more kindness, less mudslinging and insults, and he wants discussions moving forward to truly be about the political issues effecting our nation. It is an inspired, optimistic and unexpected perspective given his past behavior. But it does reflect what is the inspired Aries energy and transits through his 9th house. And we will also see if this new intention stays in place, or if he returns the “the old Trump” in his behavior.

Notice also the strong Retrograde activity as Cruz and Kasich are both forced to “reflect and step back” from their campaigns. An inner awareness that there is “no path forward” for them coming at a time when such strong inner reflection is being invited and Trump’s transit positions are so strong for his own success.

These retrograde actions invite us to really become more aware of what’s happening inside of us. What is working and what is not working. And the Aries New Moon is inviting us to take those new impulses and find a new path forward.

And Saturn and Mars continue to be in Scorpio, really inviting a strong transformational energy around our fears, angers, actions and commitments.  These 2 planets are fueling the changes, the fears and insecurities that are arising, while the retrograde planets are forcing introspection.  A Powerful combination for growth and evolution if we choose to work with it.

I encourage you to take time to reflect and continue the re-visioning process. And then plant the seeds for the next steps towards on your new direction. Continue to observe what’s happening around you. Notice who, what and how people are talking about change and the need for a “new, inspired direction” at this time. And also use the energy to get connected to your own new, inspired direction.

I have created an “Aries Empowerment” Guided meditation to help you do just that. I encourage you to download it, and work with it during this New Moon window especially. 3 Days in a row if you can. It can also be helpful anytime you just need to connect to the part of your self that is capable of courageously taking action in the world. Look for the link to download it on this page.

In the mean time, share with me your own observations of the current Aries filled, retrograde world we are living in. And also share with me your experiences of the Aries Empowerment Meditation. 🙂

The above is a general Vedic Astrology Forecast. It discusses the shifts that are happening at the level of the Collective experience, as well as how you can use that Collective energy for your own growth and evolution.

Major Shift for Rahu/Ketu, plus New Moon in Sagittarius | Vedic Astrology Forecast for January 9th, 2016

New MoonOn January 8th just before Midnight, we had a Major shift happening less that 24 hours before the height of the New Moon in Sidereal Sagittarius. This links the Nodal Axis Shift with the New Moon Window at the beginning of a new Lunar Cycle. This in addition to multiple other changes happening in the sky.

First, lets clarify what the “Nodal Axis” is, and why this shift is a big deal:

The Nodal Axis refers to the positions of Rahu (North Node) and Ketu (South Node). They are always 180 degrees from each other in the Zodiac, and they represent a strong Karmic activation that brings a strong focus into a specific area or theme of life. They reveal a karmic inner conflict where we are obsessively focusing on one thing to the exclusion of something else. It creates confusion and obsession and activates deeper unconscious parts of ourselves and the collective. Its function is to bring these deeper parts of our self into awareness so that we can evolve and integrate them. Thus, confusion forces us (hopefully) to pay attention which leads to clarity…

While there is always an effect when any planet moves into a different sign, there are 3 “Major players” which are Jupiter, Saturn and the Nodes. They move more slowly in the sky, so their effect in a single sign is felt for 1 year, 2.5 years or 1.5 years which gives more time for it to really deliver its lessons. When one of them changes signs, it has a long term impact on the collective experience.

On January 8th, just before midnight on the East Coast in the US, the Nodes will shift signs. Rahu will enter Leo where it joins Jupiter, and Ketu will enter Aquarius. Just a few days before, on January 5th, Mercury went retrograde. And Jupiter went retrograde a day before the Nodal shift. What this means is that quite a few shifts have taken place in a short time just before the New Moon. So let’s break each change down.

Mercury is the indicator for Speech and Communication. It is quick and related to the mind’s ability to sift through details and explore a variety of perspectives. The retrograde motions shows a time when that becomes more internalized. Instead of speaking, we should be listening and reflecting on our own inner thoughts and perspectives. While often thought of as “bad”, Mercury retrograde is just inviting us to pay attention and to reflect on things so we can improve our understanding and clarify the details for ourselves.

Jupiter is the indicator for Higher teachings, wisdom, purpose and optimism. It is expansive and motivated to do good things. The Retrograde motion of Jupiter invites us to turn within and reflect on our values, and sense of meaning and purpose.

Rahu shows obsession, attachment and exaggeration and is now joining retrograde Jupiter in Leo. Here Jupiter is motivated by its higher principles to take action. (You can read more in detail from my Jupiter in Leo forecast). Rahu’s energy will amplify this feeling, but in a way that is obsessed, distorted and confused. Rahu can bring great enthusiasm and motivation, because it doesn’t like to rest until it has met its goals. Out of its enthusiasm, it can accomplish a lot. Sometimes, out of that obsession and confusion arises something beneficial. Other times, it can bring destruction.

What Rahu in Leo has the potential to do is create a strong focus on our individual creative power and potential. In Leo we become a warrior for Truth. It will amplify the feeling of hope and enthusiasm, but may also amplify the qualities of overpowering and domineering. It depends upon what Truth we are fighting for. And where we are directing our creative intelligence. And to what degree we are evolved in our sense of self. Are we genuinely connected to our deeper Spiritual Truth? Are we attached to our individual identity and wanting to prove ego power? The question is always one of how to find balance. And my hope is that with Mercury and Jupiter both in retrograde, that we will be collectively reflecting on what is truly beneficial for everyone and how our individual self is interconnected to everything and everyone else.

At the level of individual creative power, this is a time where we may be learning how to access our own intelligence and creative flow and learning how to shine and radiate like the Sun into the world. This, of course, is a positive thing and something we can all strive for. For someone with a healthy sense of Self, this can be a powerful boost of courage and motivation. With Rahu’s influence, its also possible these lessons and this growth opportunity may come about in confusing ways. For instance, maybe it will amplify our feelings of low self-esteem first as a way to bring the inner obstacles to awareness. If we resist acknowledging our inner obstacles, we may become defensive and try to assert our intelligence and soul’s radiance through effort of ego, rather than through true a more Authentic connection.

The other layer of balance is seen in Ketu’s placement in Aquarius, showing the inner conflict or duality being karmically activated. While Rahu in Leo is taking us towards amplifying our creative powers and inspiration towards greater self-empowerment, Ketu in Aquarius is rejecting the idea of serving others or seeing the larger impact on humanity. Ketu in Aquarius will make us more critical of larger social structures, and potentially less interested in humanitarian notions of humbly offering to help and support our fellow occupants of this Earth.

This placement of Rahu and Ketu creates a focus on developing and expanding Self Power and a dismissal of supporting the happiness of others on a larger scale. Now, let’s be clear about something. Every planetary position is “Good for something”. While what I just described may sound like the energy is about being “selfish”, we want to understand it is a broader context. We can’t assume that everyone on the planet is about to become selfish because the Nodes have shifted. What it will do instead is activate each individual’s karmic relationship with these themes around Individual Creative Power vs The Larger Collective of Society.

If someone is karmically programmed to feel “less than” and is always lifting other people up while avoiding their own sense of self value, then this transition can bring a positive outcome of greater self-love, respect and self-acceptance of ones talents and ways they can share their gifts and what they love most with the world. On the other hand if someone is already a narcissistic egomaniac, well, this could potentially amplify that. And probably in a way that will be confusing and disturbing to themselves and those around them.

So, this energy shift is not about “good” or “bad”. It’s about understanding what its potential benefits are, and also what its potential challenges could be. Many people will benefit and grow because of this energy. And even with challenges, it is inviting us to become self aware and ultimately choose a higher expression of happiness and Truth.

With all of the Retrograde activity and Rahu in Leo, we will then experience the height of the New Moon in Sagittarius a bit before 10pm on January 9th. This starts off a new Lunar cycle that will be also be connected to the themes of finding deeper meaning, purpose and higher teachings. Sagittarius is ruled by Jupiter which is all about those things. It’s a fire sign which promotes actions and higher levels of enthusiasm. And it is motivated by doing good things and seeking higher truth. This is the seed point of the Lunar cycle which will evolve over the next 30 days.

As this cycle begins, it is helpful to reflect over the balancing point that I shared in the Full Moon in Gemini forecast. The general idea being that as we evolve our own sense of religion or connection to higher truth, that it is important that we test our beliefs and the teachings in practical ways to ensure they work. And with all the Retrograde activity of Mercury and Jupiter, there is a lot of support for reflecting over our values and discriminating what is valuable from what is not.

I will also point out that the Sun and Jupiter are in exchange, which is amplifying the link between our Soul’s power and the search for higher purpose and meaning. They are both in fire signs which encourages enthusiasm and action. And because of both the retrograde motions, as well as the specific distance of Jupiter from the Sun and Moon, I am inclined to believe that a deep collective reflection around our cultural and global values is about to take place, and that a transformation or big shift is being set up to happen through this New Moon energy in connection with the Nodal axis shift.

I will also remind you that the Retrograde motion can literally connect our mind to the past as well. And perhaps there will be a reflection around purpose, values and lessons in relationship to past historical events. The current election process comes to mind in relationship to this. And the reminder that the Rahu placement in Leo will now make those already inclined to focus on “individual power” at the expense of others even stronger. It will make those with power who are programmed to be more self serving, even more self serving.

I invite you to reflect upon current events and campaign promises, and ask yourself “Do these ideas remind me of another time in history? And if so, how did that turn out?” Was there ever another time when a leader wanted to isolate groups of people based upon religion or nationality and build a wall to defend our borders?

Whatever the outcome of the Republican and Democratic Conventions may be, I think it is clear to most that this has been an unusual process. Trumps platform has created a polarity of opinions, even within his own party. And lots of controversy. And Hillary Clinton has her supporters and opponents as well.

In Trump’s birth chart, he has a Leo ascendant with Mars, and his Sun is with Rahu in the 10th. What we are seeing in his campaign approach, is a very Self-Willed, Courageous Leo energy, with a Rahu obsessed influence on his own sense of Individual Power. He is also strongly connected to a sense of “truth and purpose”. As Rahu moves into Leo, this will amplify his own sense of self importance and taking the radical actions he believes that we need. Rahu’s transit will also make him more Self Interested, and could potentially have some negative impacts on his health. It could also create more “confusion” that amplifies his perceived charisma and power.

With the current energies, its a wonderful time to really reflect on the Values that these potential leaders have, as well as to observe how they use their power. I think something is about to shift. It’s important for each of us to reflect and try to see through the confusion that may show up, and gain clarity of the values and motivations that are truly in the best interest of our country.

On January 14th the Sun will shift into Capricorn, showing evolution of our higher values and teachings. In Sagittarius, we connect with purpose, meaning and our highest understanding of what is important and valuable. We then take that into Capricorn, where we develop a reputation based upon the values we have acquired. This might traditionally be thought of as “career”, but it is more than that. It is our reputation and how the world sees us and what impact we are able to have upon others.

So, the New Moon lunar cycle begins by reflecting on our Values and Higher truth, and then carrying our power into the world to see how those Values impact others. And this reflection is being amplified by Mercury retrograde, Jupiter Retrograde in Leo, and Rahu transiting into Leo.

Are your values focused on benefiting generations after you? How committed are you to those values? And what reputation are you earning in the world through the actions you take and the values that you express?

How has this energy been playing out in your life? What are you noticing in yourself, in others and on the global stage that reveals the workings of these shifts?

The above is a general Vedic Astrology Forecast. It discusses the shifts that are happening at the level of the Collective experience, as well as how you can use that Collective energy for your own growth and evolution.

Returning to Inspiration after Fear | New Moon in Scorpio | Vedic Astrology Forecast for December 11th, 2015

New MoonToday begins the energetic window leading up to the New Moon in Scorpio on the morning of December 11th. The Moon has already entered Scorpio and, as I discussed in the Taurus Full Moon report, the Moon in Sidereal Scorpio is a challenging position.

We have had a 2 week period of learning to stabilize our fears through the Full Moon influence, and now the New Moon in Scorpio begins a new cycle of transformation. On November 29th, several days after the Full Moon, Venus transited into Libra. Here, our capacity for happiness and our ability to compromise with others returns to more stable and supportive ground. This transit also shows our Capacity for Happiness is finally stepping away from the agitation and conflict prone influence of Mars that has created many challenges for relationships and healthy compromise for the last several months.

On the morning of December 6th, Mercury transited into Sagittarius. Leaving the influence of Scorpio’s connections to dark emotions, fears, insecurities and unexpected changes, our capacity for communication (Mercury) steps out of the connection to “hidden power” and into a sign of hope, optimism and higher principles. These two recent transits (Mercury and Venus) bring a more supportive and positive influence to allow us collectively to discuss recent terrorist events, as well as personal insecurities and emotional upheavals we may have had, in a more inspired way. Mercury in Sagittarius provides a more hopeful conversation based upon higher principles, and Venus allows us to be more considerate, diplomatic and respectful of others as we try to find understanding and solutions that honor the collective.

Interestingly, the day after Mercury shifted, on December 7th, it was announced that Donald Trump has publicly stated his proposed “Ban on Muslims” entering our country. Mercury is a double indicator of speech for him, as it rules the second house in his natal chart. Mercury also rules his 11th house, revealing that communication and speech are connected to his highest ambitions. And Sagittarius in his natal chart is the 5th house of creative potential and his desire to share with the world what he most loves and what most brings him peace. As Mercury enters Sagittarius, he is spontaneously inspired to communication his own higher ambitions, values and principles that are dearest to his heart. The “Ban on Muslims” is therefore him revealing his highest ideals and what he feels most passionate about. (What might this reveal about his character?) It happens to come while Sun and Saturn are still connecting energy to our collective fear, and while the emotional energy of the moon is waning and preparing to enter Scorpio, where it will again experience a feeling of vulnerability.

As the New Moon activates in Scorpio, we are beginning a new Lunar cycle that starts with a reminder of entering into our fears with the invitation to transform them. Hopefully, we can carry the lessons of stabilizing the mind that we learning through the recent Full Moon. Because the Sun will transition into Sagittarius on December 16th, this New Moon cycle will carry with it the energy of evolving past our fears.

In Scorpio, we come face to face with our fears and insecurities. We get experiences of the ups and downs of life. We face the challenges of relationship. And through this process, while we are learning to transform our fears into higher levels of personal power, inner strength and confidence, we are also invited to discover through our own experiences some “harsh” realities: Life offers no guarantees of happiness. We cannot expect “other” to make us happy. Even the best of relationships will one day end and thus do to not offer “permanent” happiness to us. We must make personal efforts to evolve, transform, stabilize our minds and seek higher and higher understanding of where our happiness truly comes from, or we will remain in the unstable emotional waters of our inner fears.

It is with these lessons, both of inner strength and the realization of these “harsh realities”, that we are invited to step into Sagittarius. Here, we begin the search for happiness beyond the realm of personal relationships. This is where religion, spirituality, higher teachings, higher purpose and a connection to something beyond our individual self and personal relationships is inspired into experience. Here we connect with hope and inspiration that there IS something of meaning and purpose to all of the challenges we face in life. That there is a way to cultivate a deeper peace that we have not yet truly stabilized in the world in a permanent way. This hope and optimizing inspires a quest for deeper truth in all realms. There IS a way out of our fears, our insecurities, our suffering. And, in Sagittarius we connect to that hope and inspiration and search.

We must understand that in this context “religion and higher teachings” can really be boiled down to the principles, values and meanings that we hold most dear. Not everyone thinks of themselves as “religious or spiritual” and even for those who do, not all of our “personal philosophies” are necessarily directly linked to the teachings of our faith. But it is universally true that everyone has a personal philosophy on life and its deeper meaning (or lack there of).

Trump has given a public face to one of his “personal philosophies” and spoken it allowed. What concerns me more is not “that he thinks that way”, but that his personal beliefs may (unintentionally) fuel fear and hatred among those who are in a less stabilized state of mind right now. There has already been a rise in reports of anti-Muslim sentiment within the USA, and other parts of the world. This all arising with heavy influences of Saturn, Sun and (recently) Mercury in Scorpio. Fears, insecurities and “hidden power” leading to irrational conclusions and irrational acts. And Trumps statements, to some, may be seen as “defending against the enemy”.

“Muslims” are not the enemy, and we cannot allow fear to distort the facts. When we take our “fear”, hatred and unevolved understandings and infuse it into our “personal philosophy” – well that’s what terrorist do. And that is where the problem lies. We can’t solve the problem by making the same mistake in logic that is causing these issues to begin with.

This is why, in Scorpio, we must learn to stabilize the mind and evolve beyond irrational fears and insecurities. We MUST transform our fears into a peaceful mind with strengthen emotional clarity. ONLY THEN, can we step into Sagittarius and create a “personal philosophy” which is based upon clarity, peace and a connection to a deeper Truth.

Of course, the “terrorists” will also be inspired by this same shift into Sagittarius, as it will fuel their own hopes and personal philosophies as well. But hopefully, the majority of us that truly want peace, can use this same inspired energy to reconnect to hope and deepen our own faith in something beyond the recent frightening events. Hopefully we can reconnect with a hope and optimism that reminds us that “most people are inherently good”, that “love heals” and to “treat others as we would like to be treated”.  A few “bad apples” doesn’t require that we destroy all apple trees.

The Scorpio energy, in many ways, is the entry point into the Path of Tantra Yoga.  In Tantra we learn to discover the Hidden Power within us that can be used to Transform our inner fears, insecurities and limitations.  And from that evolution of Inner Power we develop Self-Mastery of Life Force Energy and the Forces of Creation. Through these experiences, it evolves into a conscious Tantric Path which seeks higher meaning and understanding of Self and of life.

Over the next several days, I encourage you to explore your own irrational fears in a balanced and peaceful way. To intentionally become part of evolving the Collective vibration towards stability and peace (as discussed in the Taurus Full Moon report). And then, as the Sun shifts into Sagittarius in the early morning hours of December 16th, begin more and more to connect to an inspired philosophy that encourages growth, peace, love and truth. We cannot always know “what is hidden”, but we can learn to stabilize our minds and hearts amidst the insecurity of the unknown and choose a higher path of truth, love and hope.

What, for you, are the philosophies, the teachings, or the ideas that give meaning and inspiration, and how can you cultivate them more right now?

The above is a general Vedic Astrology Forecast. It discusses the shifts that are happening at the level of the Collective experience, as well as how you can use that Collective energy for your own growth and evolution.
